November's Nursing and Midwifery Sustainability Network Event.

About the session: This session showcased the development and outcomes of the Combined Pregnancy and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Clinic, a multidisciplinary, collaboratively designed model of care created to provide specialist support and expertise throughout pregnancy for women and birthing people with IBD. The session outlined the background of the project, including its design, implementation process, and sustainability outcomes. The model aims to deliver holistic, patient-centred care that addresses both pregnancy and IBD needs, ensuring a cohesive, timely, and supportive care journey for those experiencing medical complexity during pregnancy.

About the speaker: Pip is the Lead Midwife for the East of England Maternal Medicine Network, based at the Norfolk and Norwich Maternal Medicine Centre. In her role, she supports women with complex medical conditions during pregnancy, acting as a bridge between the various services and areas of expertise required to optimise both pregnancy outcomes and ongoing health within the context of their medical condition. Her work focuses on ensuring timely and equitable access to specialist care for women and birthing people across the region, facilitating collaboration between multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care. Throughout her career, Pip has been actively involved and worked in practice development and education. She is passionate about learning through simulation and about incorporating lived experiences and the patient voice into how maternity services are taught, shaped, and delivered. Participating in the Green Challenge has been a rewarding opportunity to explore the complexities and challenges faced by women with medical conditions during pregnancy. It has also enabled Pip and her team to develop a socially and environmentally sustainable model that drives meaningful, patient-centred change.
