Calling all Occupational Therapists in the UK and internationally, students, apprentices and associates, if you are a member of The Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) you can join as many online networks as you like for free and talk to all RCOT members across the country! This includes professional specialities, (neuro, children and families, etc), interest groups (leadership, innovation) as well as identity groups. Here you can also find the Sustainability Community - please do sign up and get involved! This is a chance to influence our professional body and show how many OTs care about sustainability. You can also ask questions, see resources, keep up to date with events in the OT world of sustainability. Please do sign up and get involved: Welcome | Sustainability network

I find the group really helpful in understanding the wider implications of the climate crisis and what actions we can take individually and corporately to meet the resulting health challenges. As key healthcare workers, OTs are crucial to changing attitudes and practice. Just from an equipment perspective, there is still much work to be done to ensure better systems for provision and collection, refurbishment and reuse, and recycling as a last resource. Using what is already available helps prevent the endless production of new items, which in turn saves money and protects the planet.
