Hi I was just wanting to ask a question about CVVH, we are looking at trying to be more sustainable and reduce the use of waste bags by potentially emptying them and using them longer. I have contacted the company who make them for advice and our own senior infection control team. I was just wondering if anyone carrying out this practice that could share some thoughts or advice. Hi Clare, are you referring to CVVHF bags as used commonly in ICU? The bags can be recycled depending on the manufacturer although they may need the connectors to be cut off first. Its a big issue - the bags account for a phenomenal waste disposal cost as they are incinerated otherwise. KR daniel conway (manchester)
Hi thanks for replying I was looking for anyone who has been emptying waste bags instead of using a new bag every time it needs emptied, reducing waste by using less bags.
