I work for UCLPartners Health Innovation Network as Senior Implementation Manager for Climate, and am leading a project with NHS England to create a comprehensive toolkit to support NHS organisations and teams to identify and address waste from piped nitrous oxide.
NHS Trusts have achieved sizable emissions reductions already, particularly drawing on the Nitrous Oxide project work, however, there is the opportunity for more trusts to come on board and to go further to reduce waste and address concerns around exposure to leaks.
The toolkit, which builds on existing internal NHS England guidance, will address the practical barriers to reducing waste from piped nitrous oxide and share best practice from NHS organisations who have already undertaken this work.
We are looking for people interested in participating in focus groups in late April to early May (you don't need to have done any work regarding nitrous oxide waste mitigation) to understand your hopes, fears, opportunities and barriers to reducing nitrous oxide waste.
We are particularly looking for people who work in estates/facilities, portering, ODPs, maternity, pharmacy and paediatrics. We would also like to hear from any other professionals who use nitrous oxide or gas and air.
If you'd like to contribute to a focus group, please email claudia.rees@uclpartners.com
Hi Claudia, our Endoscopy unit offers Entonox (gas & air) for certain procedures via a portable cylinder. Would this be of help?
