About the Conference
Medicines safety, avoidable waste, and the environmental impact of prescribing are rapidly rising priorities across the NHS. This conference brings together primary care clinicians, medicines management teams, sustainability leads, and wider system partners to explore practical, evidence‑informed approaches to deprescribing and greener medicines management.
Guided by the People • Planet • Pocket framework, the day highlights work already underway in Frome, Somerset, and beyond — including deprescribing projects, partnership working for system‑wide change, our successful Order What You Need campaign (which saved over £278,000), and community‑based approaches to medicines optimisation.
Attendees will hear directly from teams leading this work and will gain tools, insights, and inspiration to support improvements in their own settings.
Morning and afternoon refreshments will be provided. Delegates will also be treated to a delicious plant‑based lunch from local chef Tasha Stevens‑Vallecillo (Land Food Medicine), with an optional guided lunchtime walk through the green space adjacent to the Practice.
This event is suitable for Practice Managers, GPs, Nurses, Pharmacists, Pharmacy Techs or anyone working in Primary care with an interest in sustainability.
