Sustainability in Dentistry: An introduction to the Green Impact Toolkit

Aycan Yasar

Join us for our network event ‘Sustainability in Dentistry: An introduction to the Green Impact Toolkit’ on 27th November, 1-2pm. We are excited to welcome Rachel Soper from Students Organising for Sustainability UK (SOS-UK), Sherilee Banerjee from Buckinghamshire’ Primary Dental Service and Megan Welch, Laura Allison and Courtney Raven from BUPA to present SOS-UK’s successful Green Impact programme and introduce us to Green Impact for Dentistry.

Through SOS-UK’s tailored Green Impact programme for the dental sector, dental practices can access a supported online framework for creating change, and work towards an award, evidencing their commitment to being a responsible healthcare business. Following its nationwide launch in 2023, Green Impact Dentistry, saw over 180 dental practice teams register on the toolkit in the first year to work on improving their sustainability and social impact.

The sustainability actions within the Green Impact Toolkit support ICS Green Plans, NHS Net Zero ambitions, and UK Climate Change Act targets, enabling teams to commit to sustainability locally and nationally whilst increasing the social value of their work. The toolkit will soon have some exciting new features that allow regional Net Zero leads see the activity in their region, and connect with local engaged practices.

During the event, Rachel (SOS-UK) will outline their Green Impact Dentistry programme, its achievements and impacts so far and give a detailed ‘tour’ of the tool including its sustainability actions which cover a variety of themes.  She will be joined by Sherilee (Buckinghamshire Primary Dental Service) and Megan, Laura and Courtney (BUPA) who will share their experience from the perspective of a community and high street dentist and sustainability lead of a healthcare provider. We are thrilled to announce our speakers:
