Nursing & Midwifery Sustainability Network Event Sustainability in Social Care

Hattie Attwell

Jo Anne qualified as a registered nurse working in many NHS roles before moving to work with older people in community settings. She started working for the Royal British Legion in 2003 as a registered manager and led the home through their first inspection in 36 years – introducing a culture of person centeredness, innovation, change and excellence.

The Chair of the South Warwickshire Skills for Care Registered Managers Network and Co-Chair of the Midlands Social Care Nursing Advisory Council, Jo Anne was made a Queen’s Nurse and awarded an MBE in 2022 New Year’s Honours List for Services to Veteran’s. She is passionate about the importance and value of nurses in the care sector, supporting and developing the workforce, using research and QI to enhance the daily lives of people using the service and the care and support of veterans. She believes that we must look after the environment and green spaces around us. Living on a small holding she grows her own food, is an avid forager - cooking and preserving what nature gives us. She has an active ‘Green Team’ within the care home and a Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle strapline by which they try to live.

Join us at the next Nursing & Midwifery Sustainability Network event on 31st July 12:30-13:30 to hear JoAnne talk about sustainability in social care and some of the projects she have been involved in.
